Simple Collar Dress with Katia Infinity yarn
Last summer I shared a new free crochet pattern for a simple dress. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the free pattern here. I personally think this is one of my favorite patterns so far. I absolutely love the elegant collar. And believe me, the pattern is really simple! I decided to make the same dress with different yarn: Katia Infinity yarn with red and black. A perfect color combination for Christmas don’t you think? I’m happy how my new crochet party dress turned out! Below you can find some pictures of my new dress.
About the yarn
The yarn that I used is called Katia Infinity Shawl. This yarn is 100% pure merino wool and has an amazing color fade. One ball has a length of 600m / 150g (656yds / 5oz 1/3). With only one ball you can make a beautiful shawl/scarf.
Katia is a European yarn brand based in Spain. They are very popular because they have a wide range of unique, high-quality yarns for affordable prices. Unfortunately they’re hard to get in the USA, but I noticed more and more shops start selling some of Katia’s unique yarn, especially in Canada. And of course there’s Etsy, where people sell and ship Katia yarn worldwide!
Katia yarns in the USA
I’ve found a few sellers on Etsy who sell Katia yarns in the USA, so if you’re curious about the beautiful exclusive yarn from Europe, check them out.
BoxOfThreads from Lithuania – she has a lot of Katia yarn in stock and ships to the USA for $7. Her prices are very low compared to the others, sometimes even half of the price!
HeddlesandTreadles from Nebraska – she has a limited stock of Katia yarns, but if you’re in a hurry, this shop might be a faster option. Within the USA her shipping time is only a week and costs $3.50.
ParkAveKnit from Florida – she has quite a big stock of Katia yarns (including my favorite Katia Air Lux). Within the USA her shipping time is only a week and costs $5.00.
About the crochet party dress
It’s the exact same dress as the blue Simple Collar Dress which I made with cotton. The only difference is the yarn; this Christmas version is made with 100% merino. Isn’t it amazing how much of a difference another kind of yarn can make? The cotton dress is perfect for summer and merino is perfectly warm for a cold winter period.
I’ve used two balls for this dress in size S; one for the front and one for the back. If you’re going to use this yarn for a bigger size, you’ll need more yarn. Or you can use two balls to make a top version instead of longer dress.
I absolutely love the beautiful gradient color effect and I’m going to wear my crochet party dress next week at my family’s Christmas dinner (with an extra jacket to keep my shoulders/arms warm ghehe). Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a creative 2019!
Love,
Wilma
