About the pattern
This crochet crop top is worked flat and top-down. First we make 4 separate triangles which we will then work together.
Instead of working in the round after joining the 4 triangles, we continue working in rows back and forth. This way all stitches will look the same and you won’t see a difference between the triangles and body part. Besides, with this velvet yarn, you won’t even notice the seam which is well hidden on one side of the top.
We’ll continue working rows of half double crochet stitches until the top is long enough. Lastly we will make a separate ribbing band with half double crochet stitches worked in the back loop only which we will sew onto the top.
You can easily adjust the top to your specific body size because the pattern will give you instructions how and where to make changes if you wish to.
About the yarn
For this velvet crop top I’ve used Katia Velvet Fine, a fingering weight velvet yarn available in beautiful summer colors. Velvet is very popular at the moment and my sister loved the idea of a crochet top with velvet yarn. I only needed 2 balls for size S, M, L and XL and 3 balls for 2X, 3X, 4X and 5X.

Finished measurements
This pattern is made for adult women’s sizes S – 5XL based on bust sizes. This top is designed with a 6-8” negative ease so it fits nice and snuggly.
Measure your bust and choose the size that is closest to your measurements. If you are between sizes, I suggest to size down. You can always add some extra rows to make the top longer and you can use a smaller/bigger hook for the ribbing band to make it more fitted/wider.

– 2 turning chains do not count as a stitch
– This top is entirely made with wide half double crochet stitches, except for the ribbing, which is made with half double crochet stitches worked in the back loops only. When pattern says hdc, work a wide hdc (hdc worked in between stitches).
