About the design

This reversible skirt is very simple and easy to make. This skirt will save you both time and yarn as you only have to make one skirt for two different outfits!

This pattern was created ‘by accident’. I was working on something else and I did not plan on making a skirt at all. However, when trying/fitting the project I was working on, I noticed it would look great as a skirt as well. All I had to do is finish the skirt off and add a simple, elegant border.

The stitch that I used for this skirt is easy: half double crochet stitches worked in the third loops. This will create a special rib effect. And, surprisingly, the back of this stitch looks amazing as well! The back of the stitch looks completely different than the front and is therefore perfect for a reversible crochet skirt.

About the fit

This skirt has a close bust/chest fit (zero ease). I used the woman size standards by the Crafty Yarn Council and went for the highest mentioned inch/cm for every size. So if you’re in between sizes, I would suggest choosing the smaller size. You can easily adapt the skirt to your custom size by measuring your chest, waist and hips.

The pattern also explains how you can easily change the length of the skirt. My skirt is very short, but you can easily add a few more rows to make it longer to your own preference.

About the yarn

For this project I used high quality yarn called Katia Cotton Cashmere. It feels very soft (because of the silk content) and has a beautiful drape. The color options are amazing: when I saw this pastel green, I knew I had to make a summer outfit with it. The combination of a closed stitch and fine weight yarn makes the skirt warm enough for winter and cool enough for summer.

Katia is a European brand that has a special yarn line called Concept by Katia. All the Katia Concept yarns, including the yarn I used, are natural yarns which are carefully selected for the choosiest of crafters. It’s hard to get Katia yarns in the USA. You can find similar yarn here (worldwide shipping).
