The ‘To The Point Shawl’ is a beginner-friendly circular crochet shawl with round shape. The shawl is made with half double crochet stitches and is worked from one side to the other. The elegant border gives this design a finishing touch. It can be made with any yarn, but fingering or DK weight is recommended for that beautiful drape. It’s a great project for beginners who want to give their first project a try.

About this design
I like to make simple shawls that are easy to understand. I’m working on a series of patterns that are focused on beginners who want to give their first crocheted shawl a try. In my designs I play with different shapes, textures, colors and yarns. So far I’ve designed the Never Ending Shawl, which is a triangle shawl worked bottom-up, and the Double Crochet All The Way Shawl, a triangle shawl worked top-down.
This shawl has a round shape and is worked from one side to the other, which is why I named it ‘To The Point’ Shawl: from one shawl point to the other.
About this pattern
This pattern is worked in rows, which means we turn our work at the end of each row. The shawl is made with half double crochet stitches only. The first part of the shawl has increases on one side, and the second part of the shawl has decreases on that same side. Afterwards we work on the border which will give the shawl that extra round-shaped look.
The border is made using double crochet stitches and single crochet stitches. It’s made out of 4 different rows and gives this simple shawl a finishing touch. It might look hard, but really isn’t! And of course you can follow my video for step by step instructions.
About the yarn
Lion Brand was kind enough to send me their new yarn called Beautiful You. It’s a sport weight acrylic yarn and available in 16 colors. The yarn has a high twist (see picture below), which adds a beautiful stitch definition to your projects. Perfect for simple projects like this shawl! Oh, and I love the name they gave this yarn. 😍

I love this shawl, I made two already and it’s the perfect size to wrap around my neck with a beautifully, graceful sloped center and lightweight yarn.
I love that it doesn’t have the hideous, sharp triangle pointy edge and that it’s NOT so ridiculously ginormous.

There are several of us wanting to make a bigger shawl….is there a magic formula we can use? Or should we just duplicate several of the middle rows to get the widest part lengthened? If it needs to be longer (from top to bottom) I’m guessing we could just keep increasing those middle rows
