Before starting with the first root, sc 3. This will make sure you’ll start in the middle (when looking from front view). The next 4 roots are made in groups of 12 stitches. Repeat the following 4 times:

Round 18: 12sc, slip stitch in first sc (12)
Round 19: 12sc (12)
Round 20: 10sc, dec (11)
Round 21: 11sc (11)

Round 25: 6sc, dec (7)
Round 26: 5sc, dec (6)

Bottom
Stuff the tooth firmly. Rejoin and decrease around till you have a small gap left. Use a needle to go through all the remaining loops, this will close the gap.

Face
Cut two small rounds of black felt and two smaller rounds of white felt. Glue the white round on the black one and glue it on the tooth. Cut a short piece of black yarn and glue it below the eyes. If you are giving the tooth to a child, better use safety eyes and sew the mouth with a needle.

  1. Hi, what size yarn do you use and how many yards do you need? I’d like to create a group event where we make this (I’m a dental student) and I’m trying to figure out how much yarn everyone would need. Thank you!

  2. This pattern makes zero sense to me, please help. How does roe 3 work? The increases alone total to the stitch count at the end of row 3, but all there arent enough stitches from round 2 to single crochet all the other stitches (discluding increases)! WHAT DO I DO?”

  3. I’m starting round 3. Am I increasing in the next stitch, and then repeating the increase 2 more times in the next 2 stitches? Is that what that means? And then after that you do 4 single crochets, then an increase on the 5th stitch, and then repeat that 4sc, increase 4 more times??

  4. Hi! Thank you for sharing this pattern. About what size would this tooth be in inches when it is completed?

  5. Stupid question but just want to make sure…Do you bind off after you finish the first root and then do each of the 3 additional roots by joining? Thank you!

  6. great post, very informative. I’m wondering why the opposite experts
of this sector do not understand this. You should continue
your writing. I am confident, you have a great readers’ base already!

  7. You did a great job. In 1980 my eldest daughter was engaged to a newly graduated dentist. For Christmas, I made him 2 12 inch molars for his office. One with a smiley face and the other with a sad face and a cavity. He loved them. I hope he still has them.

  8. Hello! I love this little tooth! I got to round 7-17 and noticed the top of the tooth wasn’t rounding into a bowl shape. Am I supposed to be crocheting into the back loops for rounds 3-7 in addition to it being noted on round 2? I’m trying to trouble shoot this issue. Thanks!

  9. Hi! Thanks for the pattern. I did it!!! I don t know how to include a photo but my tooth is cute in pink color

  10. Hi, super cute. Just wondering what are the heights (and hook sizes) of the 3 you made in the photos? Thanks

  11. I don’t know if you’ll see this but for rnds 7 through 17 what exactly do I do? Repeat 48 sc for 10 more rounds?

    1. Hi! My name is Rosa and i followed the instructions and my tooth get very cute. Yes, you must do 48 sc all those rounds.

  12. I LOVE how cute this is! I work in the dental field and it’s a medical anomaly to come across any tooth with 4 roots. I was going to make this for my office but I feel like my dentist would laugh at me if I gave her a tooth with four roots lol. Is there a way to finagle this pattern to make the root in the back centered and not include a 4th root?

    1. I know this post is a few yrs old but I imagine it has 4 roots so it will stand up by itself. Also it has eyes and a mouth, that makes it a medical anomaly too! If this doesn’t make someone smile or laugh (like it’s supposed to) then you are doing it wrong. Be safe and well my friend.

    2. I modified the one i did it has 3 roots. (Different pattern)

Though i cant get the roots right on this pattern. I followed directions and it didnt work out.

  13. Do you have patterns for additional sizes? I saw a picture showing the new sizes. Thank you.

  14. I would love for you to make a video of this i don’t know how to read a pattern I don’t know how you increase you need more explanation on that please. I would love to make this for my dentists

  15. Thank you for the pattern! I am making one for my office to use for Dental Heath Month (Feb). I used 2 strands of yarn to make it bigger!

  16. Thank you very much for the pattern, I love it! It will be a perfect gift for my brother in law who is studying dentistry 🙂

  17. How do you finish off the roots? Do you tie off and start with a new root? I really love this pattern but I’m not very experienced with crochet so I’m struggling lol. Thank you!

  18. Hello, I would like to prepare one as a gift, do you have any videos for these while you made them? I somehow find it easier to follow a video, and unfortunately I couldn’t find a clear one out there!! If you have, could you please inform me I would be so thankful.

On the other hand, they really look nice ❤
